![]() (Posted on Monday, May 23, 2005 at 07:00 p.m.) Where can I start... Scorpion is addicting. It replaced La Belle Lucie and Osmosis as my new favorite solitaire. Boy, that game is very frustrating, especially with decks that I didn't make. Jenn's ouster is interesting because it took a tie and the same challenge that ousted Bobby Jon to oust. But to me, what made the finale interesing is Ian. He made slip-ups to irk Tom and Tom started to resent for those slip-ups and those became full blown. So before and during the final immunity challenge, Ian was rueful, so while he hung on, Ian tried to bargain with Tom. By the time Tom accepted Ian's offer to vote Ian out, it was already IMHO the wee hours of Day 39. Since it is already to late to hold a formal Tribal Council, Tom did part of the deal and Ian joins Colby, Lex, Sean, Ted, Matt, Burton, Boston Rob and Eliza who all won a car but not the million. As for Tom and Katie, Katie tried to do some scapegoats, but Tom won because of the respect he earned, especially Stephenie the only Ulong in the jury. Tom won 6-1. I have yet to know where to next because the reunion show's primetime telecast won't be shown until this Saturday. Before I end this section, I'll show you the video of the voting on Tribal Council and the video of the votes being revealed. They're both 3GP files that are zipped, so make sure your RealPlayer has 3GP Support. ![]() Here's a Guiness tidbit about it: LARGEST TELEVISION TELEPHONE VOTE The record for the largest TV phone vote belongs to American Idol 2 (Fox, U.S.A.) on May 21, 2003, when 24 million viewers called in to the final of the show to vote for the winner of the pop contest 10 finalists pictured here) in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.24 million to vote for either Ruben or Clay? How many voted for Fantasia or Diana? Guinness would have to count that. Ja ne wa! and my Solitaire books. (Posted on Sunday, May 15, 2005 at 08:27 p.m.) This is what I remember from Survivor. Everybody started freaking out on who goees home next after Gregg was let go. The girls suspected it was Ian. Meanwhile, Ian told Tom that when either one wins the Reward Challenge, he would take one of the girls so the other could watch those who are left behind. So Ian won A BRAND NEW CAR! But he broke the pact by taking Tom with him to sleep at a very elegant lounge, leaving the girls again squabbling for plans. Even Katie felt betrayed by Ian because he became her friend from Day 1. Tom won immunity by the skin of his teeth and Ian felt he's going home. But fangs started to come out on Tribal Council and everybody is blaming each other for any broken promises. In the end, Koror voted off the one who started the fiasco in the first place: Karyn. Tom, Ian, Katie and the almost invisible-to-my-radar Jenn will vie for a million bucks. Tomorrow is the finale, but since I'll be at work, I will not see the entire show in one piece. This Saturday will be the finale's primetime telecast and the Saturday after that is that of the reunion. Until then, I won't bother who will win. I'm hoping Ian must not lose because anyone who had won a car (namely Coby, Lex, Sean, Roger, Matt, Burton, Boston Rob, and Eliza) had never won the million. In last Wednesday's Amazing Race, teams made their way back to the U.S. by way of Jamaica. Once in Jamaica, they first did the Limbo Rock trying on how each would go. Then, they drove to a Detour where all decided to Build It (a raft, that is) instead of Raft It. Uchenna and Joyce were last, since there are three teams left, what high time just to lose money. From Montego Bay, they chopped up onions and resisted tears. And went to Tee It up on the Detour instead of going to Pony Up. They flew Puerto Rico where each went to jump of a 90 foot bridge and swim. And it's off to Miami where they went to Little Havana to find a cigar store called "El Rey de los Habanos." Uchenna and Joyce begged all they can to pay the taxi driver. It worked and won the race! Here's the last leaderboard for the Amazing Race:
I like to talk about this a few weeks ago, but since I am busy, I'll try to explain about the two solitaire books I bought, which make me write more about solitaire in Wikipedia. ![]() ![]() I was contemplating on buying this for weeks, but I manage to buy it as a steal. I bought this book on the previously-owned book section—the same book on the sports and hobbies section on the very same store cost three-fourths as expensive. In fact, because of the confusion of books in the previously-owned section, the only other copy that I found costs a fourth as expensive. ![]() Since both the paperback version I now own (above) and the hardcover version have a gold cover, here's a Guiness tidbit about gold: Most ductile element One gram of gold (Au) can be drawn to 1.5 miles (2.4 km), or 1 oz to 43 miles (69 km).*whistle* Now, if you excuse me, I'll be going back to work tomorrow and finish some test papers. Until next time... Ja ne wa! (Posted on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at 10:01 p.m.) I'm supposed to write this yesterday, but with no time on my hands at the time, a big downpour and a power outage, I had no time talking about how Gregg got duped by Tom and Ian's alliance. That's what I can say, he's duped. But this is what I can still remember about last Wednesday's Amazing Race In last Wednesday's Amazing Race, teams continue their U-turn from Asia as they land in the UK. After find in Abbey Road (which the Beatles famously walk on) and rode on the Millennium Eye, they stumbled on a Detour to use their Brains to help Sherlock Holmes or use their Brawns and store some boats. After that, they went to a crazy Roadblock where they have to park double decker buses (in country where the cars drive on the left unlike the Americans). Because they made the wrong side of the coin this time, Meredith and Gretchen raced all they could to catch up to Uchenna and Joyce, but they ended up eliminated. Here's the leaderboard as of last Wednesday's episode:
I got lucky that I have the latest Guinness Book. But I'll talk about it again when I got time. Ja ne wa! (Posted on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at 06:34 p.m.) I'm sorry I didn't post anything last week. I'm supposed to post something last Monday or Tuesday if it weren't for my pesky brother who brought along my laptop with him every day for about four days so he can finish his thesis. I know his work is very important, but for my and my sister's expense? I'm supposed to report on how happy I am to report on how happy that Lynn and Alex, who wanted to beat Rob and Amber so bad, were beaten. I also want to report on Janu quitting and the book I'm supposed to tell you about. So what I can dish out this week? Stephenie, the last of the Ulongs, who had no choice but join the Korors felt relieved that Janu rescued her from elimination from Tribal Council by eliminating herself. She then tried to conspire with Caryn and Jenn to vote off Tom. But the Korors stuck with their plan to vote off the Outcasts and Stephenie is thrown out. Well, I'm guaranteed to see Ian next week as he won immunity. In last Wednesday's Amazing Race, teams made a U-turn from Jodhpur, India to Istanbul, Turkey. Once arriving to a lighthouse and searched for gnomes. After that, they went to a Detour where they looked at some Columns or weighed people in Kilos. Then they conquered a fort. After a bad flight, Ron was so close in finishing, but he saw Rob and Amber check in. As a consolation, while stripped of money and possessions like he was as a POW, he and Kelly got to spend a night at hotel. Here's the leaderboard as of last Wednesday's episode:
Constantine's out? Ja ne wa! (Posted on Monday, April 18, 2005 at 06:52 p.m.) Do I forget that I'm now a Wikipedian? Well, that site, found at the links section at the side of your screen, is the free encyclopedia, which true to its word, anyone can edit. In fact, I even created articles about Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch even before I made an accout there. About anyone can make an article, but one advantage of having an account there on can make minor edits, move pages, and even have articles with their names of them. I don't even use their regular skin; I use the modified version of their old skin. So what do I regularly contribute there? Aside from the two articles I mentioned, I also contribute articles about Solitaire games, while I edit other articles here and there. I even made research and played these solitaire articles to make sure about it before I write. I'll tell you about it in my next update. I caught up with Survivor last Saturday. Stephenie, the last of the Ulongs, worked alone and started to freak out. Lucky for her, a new message came for her and Koror: in the words of a famous cliche, if Stephenie's tribe can't beat Koror, she'll join Koror, and she did, complete with some lessons of fishing from natives. In the immunity challenge, it took some donuts to take Coby down, some cookies to lure Ian, and pizza to take Stephenie off, leaving Tom to win immunity. Stephenie may be the outcast, but Koror already has chinks in its very powerful armor early on. Because of that chink, Coby's complaining took a toll on the tribe, and he became the first member of the jury. Gay guy off, and a new twist will come to life next week. In last Wednesday's Amazing Race, teams finally left Africa and made their way to India. First, they stayed away from the Yield and did some searching of the Roadblock. After that, they went for a Detour where they would rather deliver Liquids (tea) than Solids (rocks). But by the time Boston Rob & Amber reached host Phil Keoghan, Phil is about to give them their next clue. The leg continues next Wednesday where the teams did some dancing and Amber and Meredith have camel problems. I haven't updated anything about American Idol, but as of my six bets, here's their progress:
This moment's Galaxy Angels screen shot: This is what happens when Vanilla H becomes a Gundam fighter. Ja ne wa! (Posted on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 09:05 p.m.) Busy, busy, busy in the workplace... But at least, the inventory's finished. I finally caught the new schedule of the primetime telecast of Survivor. And all I can say that as Koror manages to outsmart Ulong, Bobby Jon's eviction puts Stephenie all alone in Ulong. And if these two tribes won't merge anytime soon, Stephenie's battle is turning into a hanidcap match. Good luck, Steph. In last Wednesday's Amazing Race, teams left the Pans through Botswana and found a village to Carry-ing It with their heads or Milk-ing It the goats. After that, they went to a real Roadblock to pull of logs. Brian & Greg knew they were last, even after they went to the wrong water tank. So they went naked as they were being told they were eliminated. Here's the leaderboard as of last Wednesday's episode:
This moment's Galaxy Angels screen shot: Mint doing Sumire Kanzaki. Sumire's sheepish laugh, that is... Ja ne wa! (Posted on Monday, April 4, 2005 at 06:33 p.m.) I got to admit why I haven't blogged for a while. I finally have a job. I now work as a "language specialist" for the school where I spent my pre-school years. I basically make exams for the children, working plans for the teachers, and even editing the school's newsletters. Right now, school's out for the kids and they won't come back until June. So for two months, it's peace and quiet for me, the directress, one of my old teachers, and some of my workmates, especially a deaf-mute one who I communicate through gestures and writing. But the benefits actually outweigh the disadvantages which are:
In last Wednesday's Amazing Race, the teams finally went out of Latin America and into Africa. The first destination is South Africa, where they did a Tunnels-Tribes Detour. After that, team members did a Roadblock and went shopping for some items to bring to some kids in the orphanage. Meredith & Gretchen were last, but they survived; but they don't have anything except their passports. After feeding some lions, they flew to Botswana, then traveled by bus or train to a Roadblock to shoot spears. They went to a Food-Water Detour and headed to the Makgadikgadik Pans afterwards (reminds me of Mr. Mcdoo's McaHula-Hula Dance). Although Brian & Greg had an accident which injured their cameraman, they just nosed out Ray & Deana out of the Race after the latter got lucky with a Fast Forward back in South Africa. Here's the leaderboard as of last Wednesday's episode:
This moment's Galaxy Angels screen shot: Some reaction from the Angels: a crying Millefeuille, a sad Lanhua, a visibly worried Mint, and a ticked off Forte. (Karol Wojtyla) 1920-2005 Oh, yeah, Angels, there's an interregnum. Ja ne wa! (Posted on Sunday, March 27, 2005 at 05:45 p.m.) We may have a long ride, be I managed to view last Wednesday's via satellite broadcast of the Amazing Race. Here's what happened: Last Wednesday, The Amazing Race went from Mendoza, Argentina and flew all the way to Buenos Aires. The teams first stopped at a Roadblock in Mendoza where one of each team rode a horse. After finding a raincoat-clad guy, they went to the city of Tigre and went to a Detour where they searched a Shipwreck or an Island. Because of the pressure created by two other teams, at the same time riding a sputtering boat, Susan & Patrick may go down in history to be the first mother-son team ever, period. They were eliminated. Here's the leaderboard as of last Wednesday's episode:
Because of the fact it fell on the Easter weekend, Survivor wasn't shown on Good Friday. But there's still today, so I hope I can catch up! I also failed to watch last week's American Idol performance show either. So I have no idea who performed well and since I can't watch the results show until tomorrow, I also have no idea who was eliminated. I hope it's neither one of my five bets. This moment's Galaxy Angels screen shot: Looks like Mint's gotta modify that APB on that stolen tank. ...Or better yet, she call the National Enquirer! Ja ne wa! (Posted on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 12:13 a.m.) I haven't digested much about last Wednesday's episode of Amazing Race because of lots of big frenzies. So I'll try what I can to remember what happened there. Last Wednesday, The Amazing Race begins from Santiago de Chile and drove all the way to Argentina. First after straddling the first Yield, they either Paddle-d or Pedal-ed. After that, they went to Mendoza and went to Camping Suizo to a Roadblock where one eats 4 pounds of cow parts. While some teams decided to quit and sit out for four hours, it was a home stretch between Susan & Patrick and Debbie & Bianca. But Patrick won and he and his mother eliminated the girls. Here's the leaderboard as of last Wednesday's episode:
I just hope that I can make it to the live broadcast because it's a long ride. On Survivor last Friday (supposed to be Thursday, but they still did so on Friday), the twist came in a reward challenge. No tribe is immune, but the winning tribe would leave Tribal Council with full bellies. Despite efforts by Ulong to look for sake bottles, Koror did it again. Koror decided to vote off Willard because he was lackadaisical in his tribe. Nobody wanted him to go, but they have to. (Count also the relationship between Gregg and Jennifer that Coby will keep an eye for days.) Meanwhile, while Koror dined for some beef stew, Angie was kicked out of Ulong after a revote. Yes, there was no purple rock. Looks like I have to switch alliances and cheer for Koror because of Ian and Tom. But I have to wait until this coming Sunday for the primetime broadcast because there will be no Survivor broadcast on either Maundy Thursday or Good Friday. Boy, Filipinos do take the Holy Week very seriously. Ditto for the results show for this week's American Idol. That's because Wednesday night in America is Thursday morning here. But at least, Mario Vazques's exit prompted Nikko Smith's return. It'll be one big fight, especially for my five bets. There still in, although Mikalah was on last week's bottom three. Meet my collection of playing cards: ![]() Just posted this as an extension to the part of my last post about my MMPPP deck. People might ask me if I got no playing decks of my own. This might be my last post before my vacation. I'll be away for five days starting this Wednesday. Though I'll bring my laptop, I decided to leave the modem behind to have time-out offline, even if where I'll have my vacation has a connection to the internet. And even if I return on back on Sunday, I'll visit my old nursery school the next day. So my next post won't be up until very soon. Until then, here's... This moment's Galaxy Angels screen shots: Lanhua: "Do... not... press... this...." Ja ne wa! (Posted on Monday, March 14, 2005 at 10:49 a.m.) I apologize that I didn't post this one like I promised. My brother borrowed my laptop and brought it to school on short notice. So I didn't have any time do this one in time. Today, I'll be posting my Part 2 of my statement for this week. Nearly two years ago, after I knew about the now infamous Most Wanted Iraqi Officials card deck, I was inspired to make my own card deck using my favorite characters at the time. That took fruit as the Anime Playing Cards, which you see at the upper part of my blog. I even talked about it somewhat in-depth back in this blog's Midnight Blue Edition. Just two weeks ago, I created a Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch card deck after I went to a section of Andy's Playing Cards about card decks with non-traditional patterns. It's a long story on how, but simply put that a manufacturer can make a "fancy deck" from the limits of his imagination. I used various pictures of the characters from that particular anime using screenshots, some DVD covers from MermaidMelody.de and some art by a doujinshi artist named Akai Shinju, who obviously knows how to draw the characters very well. It took some notes to think of a motif for each of the suits (rather the ranks which I used on my Anime Deck) and about five days to make the cards. One notable difference is the inclusion of pips into each card rather than just putting pictures. I even made pip-shaped pictures in some of the cards. ![]() Here's the end result: ![]() ![]() ![]()
What's next for me in the crafts department? Who knows! Last Wednesday, The Amazing Race begins from Cuzco, Peru and all the way to Santiago de Chile. First a bus ride brought the teams to Arequipa in Peru. There, team members had a shoe-shining Roadblock. After flying through either of two flights to Chile and a visit to the Virgin, they did a Detour where they Shop-ped (for some ingredients in their own expense) or Schlep-ped (some books to La Biblioteca de Congreso). Because of the order from the Roadblock back in Peru, as well as the traffic in Santiago de Chile, Brian & Greg squeezed through, eliminating Megan & Heidi in the process. Here's the leaderboard as of last Wednesday's episode:
This moment's Galaxy Angels screen shots: Vanilla watches as Ulong faces another Tribal Council. Ja ne wa! And some Survivor and American Idol news (Posted on Friday, March 11, 2005 at 06:56 p.m.) Welcome to the new Olive Edition of my Blog. I was thinking changing the look of my blog after maintaining it for about two years now. But being in the lazy sloth that I am, I decided to pass on that. You will notice something different on my Anime Cards. Although I am thinking of continuing the poker deck showing style, I decided to pick five cards from the tangible version and use their data computer versions so the other cards have a chance to shine. And Astro is having that right now. I've also made a banner showing Sosuke Sagara (of Full Metal Panic) in a Bonta-kun mascot costume. Here's a military who was taken into normal city life by his friend and schoolmate Kaname. Well, his life is cliche; one can take him out of the battlefield, but one can not possibly take the battlefield out of him. Sosuke is raised in a battlefield and live his life that way. The message I used is in reference to Survivor: Palau. Palau was military stronghold in World war II and the military theme must have been used in this edition. Speaking of which... The tribes were asked to pick a representative. It turned out that representative would choose tools to make a bathroom. Koror easily chose Ian, the virtual leader, after Coby passed. Ulong on the meantime, did not decide until Jeff Probst went to them on the spot. James was chosen to be the representative. In Koror, Ian led and Tom gave the pep to the tribe. On the other hand, the girls complain because James and the boys took over building. As a result, Koror made a shower and a toilet, separated by a path with the message "Watch your Step," while Ulong made a half-finished combination shower-sink-toilet. Because of that, Koror had a construction build a shelter for them and had two bottles of champagne as a housewarming gift. In the immunity challenge, the men of Ulong became weaklings in the face of Koror's. But the girls of Ulong bounced the tribe back. It was hill-hill, but Coby handed James and his tribe another ticket to Tribal Council. Both Kim and James were the targets. James may have led his tribe to their demise, but Kim was booted out because she may be as strong as Angie and Stephenie, but she's too lazy. This coming Thursday, twists arrive and shock the two tribes. What is it? We have to wait. ![]() But at least, some of my favorites are still in the running: the rockers Bo Bice and Constantine Maroulis, Anwar Robinson, Nadia Turner, and the "Pick Me" girl Mikalah Gordon. I'll put my money on Anwar, but if the first Belgian Idol Peter Evrard, a rocker, did it, why can't his American counterparts Bo and Constantine? I've got lots more to talk about, especially that on the Amazing Race, but that'll come tomorrow. Ja ne wa! |
